I was so looking forward to Sherika and Geoff’s wedding this past May – I knew it would be a blast after their super fun (despite the rain & cold) engagement shoot in the north end. And I knew it was going to be small and casual, with lots of fun details. When I arrived that morning to start the getting-ready photos, their family and friends were all packed into their apartment helping with the last minute preparations – including baking the wedding pies and packing picnic baskets!

The ceremony itself was at the Arnold Arborteum in Jamaica Plain, and we started there early to get a lot of photos of just Sherika and Geoff… I swear we walked all over that place! There are so many great spots there. And we ended up near this quiet little place that they had picked out for the ceremony, underneath a beautiful tree blooming with pink flowers, next to a small stream. After the ceremony we all headed over to Somerville – to Powderhouse/Nathan Tufts Park, where the picnic was magically all ready to go! There was croquet, candy mustaches and a lot of fun.

Rebecca and Eli had an amazing backyard wedding at Eli’s parents’ house this past May… I couldn’t believe how beautiful and elegant a backyard wedding could be! They personalized the ceremony by having their friend as officiant, their parents do the readings, and writing their own vows. The landscaping was perfect for photos, but even better, the Merrimac River was a short walk away, so we headed down there for a few shots of just the two of them before getting back to the party.

Everyone likes to be recognized for a job well done, right? Of course! I have the best clients, and nothing makes me happier than making them happy. After all, I love to get a great shot, an interesting angle, a fleeting emotional moment – but if my clients aren’t thrilled, what’s the point? These are *their* photos when everything is said and done. I hope they put them on their walls, show them to their friends and family, and enjoy them for many years to come. So, one of my favorite things is getting these types of emails/notes from my awesome clients! Here are a few from 2011…

There is a tiny little island in Newburyport that I always wondered about as I passed it on Hines Bridge going from Amesbury… And that is where Katelyn and Cory decided to do their engagement photos! It’s like a secret little hideaway (although I’m told, not so secret and abandoned during the summer, when fishermen take over its shore).

Katelyn and Cory were fabulous on this relatively warm November day… I just love it when a couple tells me that they’re terrible in front of the camera and then end up being total rock stars! They could pass for models, I’m telling you.
