about

Hi there! I’m Brett Alison Steiner, and I’ve been into photography in one way or another for awhile now, more than half of my life I would say!  From being the photo geek in high school, to attending Bennington College for (among other things) their fine art program in photography, and then moving onto internships along the way, and finally starting my own business in 2005.  It’s so wonderful to be able to do something I love, and that brings people such happiness.

Basically my approach to weddings and events is to capture as many real moments as possible – I love it when clients say they hardly noticed me throughout the night, but that I caught all of the important moments, and even lots of stuff they didn’t even know was happening!  I look at shooting portraits the same way – I try not to pose everyone too much, but let the kids run around while I chase after them, and occasionally ask them to stop and look at me, and go from there!

I am based north of Boston, but am available for travel throughout New England and beyond. I regularly shoot weddings and other events throughout eastern Massachusetts – from Newburyport to Boston to Plymouth to Worcester, and many other locations in-between. Also southern New Hampshire, Rhode Island, southern Maine.

I am proud to be one of the few wedding photographers who are members of the Wedding Photojournalists Association (WPJA). I have been awarded WeddingWire.com’s “Bride’s Choice” Award for 2009 and 2010. I am also on the preferred vendors list at Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA and Dexter’s Inn in Sunapee, NH.

Randomness:

My favorite color is green (in case you couldn’t tell from the bright green jacket I’m wearing here)

I’m originally a southern gal (no, I don’t have an accent), but I’m slowly acclimating to New England winters!

I love my two big, lazy, fluffy kitties

Other interests are gardening, yoga, knitting, cooking/baking (chocolate chip cookies!), watching TV (does that count?), shopping at consignment stores, and spending as much free time as I can with my husband, Tom.
