Glen Magna Farms has got to be one of the most beautiful locations for a wedding on the Northshore! Don’t get me wrong, there are a ton of gorgeous wedding venues north of Boston (that I absolutely love shooting at), but Glen Magna is just so fun for a photographer. There are *so* many great spots for photos that it’s kind of a rush to try to get to as many as possible during the “formal” photos! The grounds are varied (green lawn, forest, gardens, small outbuildings that are part of the farm, the main grand estate, paths lined with trees… you get the idea!), which makes it nice for whatever kind of “feel” you’re going for.

Also, they have two options for the wedding reception – as you’ll see in the photos below – either a tent reception on the lawn, or inside the historic mansion.

Since I love shooting there so much, I decided to go out on a limb and make a sample album for them to show there – and they loved it! I loved it too, so I made a copy for myself. If we meet in person, you’ll probably see this album. I really enjoyed designing it, and think it turned out really well – if I do say so myself. :)

Ahh… happy snow day?! Hopefully this will be the last of it and spring will truly come later this week. One can hope!

Well, Jess and Dwayne had a wonderful, relaxed day last summer in Andover. It was my first time shooting a wedding at the historic Stevens Estate in North Andover – I had never even realized it was there until this wedding! It was an amazing venue – the cocktail hour was inside and the reception in the tent behind the mansion.

Jess and Dwayne had a long journey to this day… it started in college twelve years earlier when they first met and became friends. I just love stories like that! Congrats, Jess and Dwayne, may your years together be filled with as many friends and laughter as your wedding day was.

Ceremony: St Augustine’s Church, Andover, Massachusetts

Reception: The Stevens Estate, North Andover, Massachusetts

The priest had some funny anecdotes about the couple that he threw into his homily – that definitely lightened things up!

It was another drizzling, dreary day, so we mostly stuck to some indoor photos as well as using this archway at the entrance to the estate.

We found this neat little key rack upstairs – thought it would be fun for a ring shot :)

A little story behind these images… Dwayne is from Jamaica originally, and the night of the wedding was during the Olympics – specifically the day that Usain Bolt (of Jamaica) was running his 100 meter race. No one knew how the race turned out, but someone got the audio from the games to the DJ. He surprised the couple by playing it during the reception… And here’s the reaction! (He won, of course, so there was much celebrating :))

And then… Call me maybe?

I hadn’t realized that this side of the estate was all lit up until I had packed everything up and was driving away… Luckily I looked over and saw this and stopped the car (in the driveway) to get the shot. Glad I did!

I absolutely love photographing weddings at the Wayside Inn, and especially for such a wonderful couple as Callie and Josh (seems to be a pattern here – I am very lucky with having such great clients!). My second photographer, Heidi Schnee, and I were only with them for a few hours on their wedding day, but were able to capture so much in that time! Callie and Josh – I hope y’all had a great night – I left right as the party was getting started, and it looked to be a really fun one. :)

Ceremony & Reception: Wayside Inn, Sudbury, MA

Josh *might* have gotten a bit emotional as he saw his beautiful bride coming down the aisle.

This was a really sweet moment, honoring their mothers during the ceremony by giving them roses.

What a wedding party!

And lovely ladies! I really like the different color dresses, and the white flowers with them (and then alternating the purple flowers with Callie’s dress).

So, this was a really clever idea! Their last name, Davis, is of course a stop on the MBTA – so they named all of the tables after T stops, and used photos from those T stops as the table signs. (They were sitting at the Davis table, of course :))

There’s a nice little pond behind the garden and tent area at the Wayside Inn, and we were able to grab a few photos there before the sunset.
