Historic New England Wedding || Kathryn and Robb
Just looking through Kathryn and Robb's photos from last October makes me feel so happy for them - remembering how they would calmly and serenely look into each other's eyes, like the rest of the world didn't exist for those moments. And the giddy looks of joy that came over their faces as they said "I do." These are things I'm so lucky to be a part of - thank you Kathryn & Robb, and happy (early) first anniversary!
Ceremony & Reception: Lyman Estate, Waltham, MA
In Kathryn's words, about the wedding: We wanted it to be very relaxed, but elegant! Full of family, friends, food, and fun! We are not DIY people, and did not want to spend a ton of time on planning (we got married 7 months after we got engaged), so we made sure to pick a location that was beautiful just as it was (the Lyman Estate was perfect for this!). We also wanted to really enjoy our time with all of our family and friends, so we knew we did not want a sit down dinner - the buffet stations and cocktail tables were great for this (our caterer was amazing). Lots of other details of course... but mostly it was just fun!
What a gorgeous wedding day at a Historic New England venue :)
I'm so glad we did this [the formal photos] first! It felt important to have those few minutes alone with Robb before being together with everyone else. And of course, more time to actually be at the party!
Having my sister as the officiant was amazing! We knew the general structure of what she was going to say, but not the actual words. She captured us perfectly, it was so personal and lovely. Robb and I don't love being the center of attention, but somehow we didn't mind that during the ceremony.
It was actually great, and felt really special to be out on the dance floor by ourselves for the first time as husband and wife. And the party was a blast! As everyone said it would, it went by too fast, but I'm pretty sure we at least said 'hello' to everyone, actually got to eat hors d'oeuvres and dinner, and, most importantly, got to dance (a lot) with all the guests!
What were your first reactions to the photos? I loved getting the preview photos on Facebook so soon after the wedding. We were on our honeymoon, and it felt like re-living the day again, which we of course wanted to do! Then all the beautiful photos - the ceremony particularly was so great to see - we look so happy! I feel like the photos captured the fun of the day exactly as I remember it.
What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings? Enjoy the planning process, and don't stress out about the details. What you and everyone else will remember from your wedding is the fun, the excitement, and the love.
