Woodstock Inn and Brewery Wedding || Liz and Steve
This is such a fun one! I tell you, I don’t think there is one photo I took of Liz where she does not have a huge smile on her face. And I mean, why not? Surrounded by all your loved ones, in one of the most gorgeous spots in New Hampshire, on a beautiful day… So, here’s the beginning of their story:
How did you meet your partner/get engaged?
Steven and I met at Keene State College in 2014 at a mutual friend's house. At first we did not exactly hit it off (I worked at Hannaford, he worked at Market Basket. The Market Basket strike was in full swing and we had different opinions about our competing grocery stores lol). We got together a few months later when we bumped into each other at a school dance and have been together ever since. Several years later, we took a trip back to Keene to hike Mount Monadnock, when we were close to the top a huge storm started (hail in August was not fun) and he popped the question right there! It was freezing and we were soaked but we still got to enjoy a nice beer at the top of the mountain while talking about our future wedding.
I love that they incorporated elements of their engagement story into their wedding day - from being in the mountains, to including a beer pouring/tasting into their ceremony (it was really fun and cute!). Obviously those things are important to them, and I always encourage anyone who asks that you should make your wedding day about you and your story. I am so glad they invited me to be a part of it!
And I got to explore this cute little town in the heart of New Hampshire’s White Mountains - always a favorite spot to visit, but of course a beautiful backdrop for a wedding! They had their ceremony at Cascade Park, which is right next to the Pemigewasset River (where we got some amazing photos after :)), and the wedding reception at the Woodstock Inn and Brewery.
Our main goal for a wedding was to have it be as laid-back as possible. We've found that as we go throughout life it becomes harder and harder to get together with friends and family as often as we'd like. Our intent with planning a big wedding was to see all of our loved ones at once and just enjoy the time with one another. We loved that the Woodstock Inn creates a warm, rustic, and familiar atmosphere with their main focus being on good beer and great food because that was a huge deal for us!
I am absolutely in love with these invitations!
One of my favorite parts of this photo is the on-lookers who stopped to watch the wedding from the sidewalk.
Here’s the beer ceremony! Think of it like a sand ceremony, but with beer. They each took one of their favorite beers and combined them together and then took a sip!
Once I made it to the altar I had trouble with looking Steven in the eye because he was teared up. Once we opened our beers and got a couple nervous laughs in everything became more comfortable.
Steven and I really appreciated your laid back attitude. We knew we could bounce ideas off of you and that we could be comfortable with you as we don't always love to be the center of attention. I found it amazing that you were able to move around so quietly, I barely saw you throughout the day but you captured every aspect of the wedding!
We had about 20 minutes before we entered the wedding reception where we got to sit on the lodge's big wrap-around porch and finish the beers from our ceremony, it was so nice to take a moment to breathe and realize that we were now a married couple!
I loved watching the dance between Steven and his sister Marissa to commemorate their Mom. I found the small moments with my family members to be the most special as well, it was nice knowing we were making memories that will last a lifetime.
I always love an anniversary dance!
Much of the night feels like it flew by including the first dance, toasts, cake cutting etc. It was such a blast to see everyone we love in this world all together in one room all enjoying Woodstock as much as we do.
What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?
If I could go back in time, I would tell my pre-wedding self to focus less on the small details that can create a lot of stress and focus on the important things which are family, friends, and the beautiful marriage that comes after the wedding.
Thanks for inviting me to be a part of your wedding at the Woodstock Inn and Brewery!
