Engagement Session at Odiorne State Park || Julia and Darren
Well, here we are at one of my new favorite spots for any type of portrait session! It’s Odiorne State Park in Rye, NH. I just love the beautiful backdrops that range from rocky shoreline to woods to gorgeous trails. You really can’t go wrong here! Amazingly, I had never been here up until the last couple of years, when one of my favorite families (who I get to photograph every year!), chose Odiorne for their family portraits. Since then, I’ve been back several times - mostly for engagement sessions. I hope to be back one day for a wedding at the Seacoast Science Center, which is right there in the park.
Julia and Darren met me there about an hour before they close the gates and we ran all around to get these amazing shots! I had such a fun time at this engagement session at Odiorne State Park.
The first spot I like to go to is this trail behind the Seacoast Science Center, which has the most amazing backdrop.
Julia and Darren met in college, and after a few tries, finally connected for a first date in Portsmouth. Darren also proposed in Portsmouth three years later! So, they wanted to do their engagement session in the area, although with more of a nature vibe since they both love the outdoors, hiking, and being by the water.
Then there’s this little grove of birch trees that is right next to the water which is so lovely and make for some dynamic photos to shoot through (always my favorite).
Of course the rocky shoreline is a favorite - a classic New England beach. And seriously how cute are these two? They switched outfits halfway through and I love the white dress and jean jacket combo that Julia is rockin’.
I forgot to mention that of course in true New England style there are lots of stone walls, which is always fun for a few photos.
There is so much more to explore at Odiorne State Park! My kids and I have walked lots of the paths and there are even more amazing spots. Just not enough time!
