Glen Magna Farms Wedding || Jon and Emma
“I come here with no expectations, only to profess, now that I am at liberty to do so, that my heart is and always will be...yours.”
- Jane Austen, Sense and Sensibility
What a wonderful, happy day for Emma and Jon! I was so lucky to be a part of it. A gorgeous September afternoon for a wedding at Glen Magna Farms, one of my favorite wedding venues on the North Shore!
Emma and Jon are so fun to be around, and their wedding was such a blast - thanks you two for letting me capture this amazing day for you!
I asked Emma some questions about the day, her answers will be in italics throughout. And to start, how they met:
We met our freshman year of college at NYU. I had befriended a few of Jon's roommates. We went to a lot of the same events but never really spoke to each other - so much so that Jon and I have different accounts of when we really first met! (I have photo evidence though, so I win :) ) We didn't get to know each other until a year later, and it took another year on top of that for us to start dating in 2011!
The florist was still setting up, and had these greens on the ground. So I sneaked a few of them into the photos with the invites. :)
I love these little moments!
We both love history and nature, so we wanted our guests to immediately feel those influences in the venue and in our decor. We both also love music, so our live band and ceremony musicians were really important to us. We wanted to create a unique and very personal experience for our guests, and wanted them to feel like they were at "our" wedding rather than "a" wedding.
We put a lot of thought into our vows, so to be able to recite them in front of everyone we loved was really special. Spending the previous night and that morning away from Jon was much harder than I thought, so I was especially looking forward to getting to the end of the aisle so we could be together.
All through the ceremony Jon kept kissing Emma’s hand… It was so sweet!
Completely lost in the moment <3 <3
We loved how calm and unobtrusive you were. At times we didn't even realize you were right there with us! I completely trusted you to get the shots that were important to us, and you did. I also had a great time doing the photos of just the two of us, I really didn't think it would be fun but it was!
The best part of the pictures was that you completely captured both our personalities and the emotions of the day, which was the most important thing for both of us.
Oh my gosh! The flowers (by Luna Moss)… All of the arrangements were amazing. If I had time, I would have taken photos of every single table.
Neither of us really likes to be in the spotlight, so during the first dance we were making each other laugh the whole time so we wouldn't think about everyone staring at us and our very mediocre dance moves.
The three groomsmen’s toasts had everyone in stitches.
And then… they started singing.
It was pretty funny. Too bad I don’t do video! But I’m sure City Point Films got it.
And then, on to the party!
Just love how Glen Magna’s new tent looks all sparkly lit up at night.
Men in Black (the band) is always so much fun! They bring up each side of the wedding party for a song. They all crushed it.
We both loved every minute of the party, the only regret we both had was that we couldn't spend more time with each guest! I was so stressed before the wedding that I really didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did.
What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?
Trust your venue and your vendors. If they're professionals they'll do an amazing job and do not need you to stress, obsess, or micromanage! Also, try to use vendors who know each other and/or know your venue, it makes things even easier.
