Locke Falls Farm Wedding || Kaylee and Vinny

One of my favorite places to be - at any time of the year - is up in the White Mountains… I’m not much of a skier/snowboarder, or a hiker (though I try), but I just cannot get enough of this place! So, it is always a treat to spend a beautiful fall weekend up there for an amazing wedding day, just like Kaylee and Vinny’s wedding at Locke Falls Farm this past September. Kaylee is an avid hiker, so being in the mountains was very important to her, and they found the perfect spot where they could enjoy the entire wedding weekend with their wedding party and families.

After their Foss Mountain engagement session, I knew their day would be fun, laid-back, filled with some amazing people, and of course their adorable dog Brodie. I’ve asked the couple some questions about their day, and their answers are throughout in italics.

How did you meet your partner and/or get engaged?

Vinny and I met on Tinder back in 2014! We got engaged in March of 2021 at Echo Lake in Franconia Notch, with our dog Brodie. Having Brodie at our engagement was a must for me. I love hiking so having the mountains as a backdrop for our engagement was also very special.

What were your goals for your wedding day? (ie, what was your vision, what did you care about most?)

Our main goal for our wedding day was to enjoy the ENTIRE day (ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception) with our guests rather than being swept away for photos, which is why we decided to do a first look and formal photos before the ceremony (HIGHLY RECOMMEND!). We also wanted great food and great music (which I think we accomplished).

What did you like best when working with me as your wedding photographer?

Other than your talented work we loved your calmness. You really put us (2 people who don't love the spotlight) at ease during the planning process as well as on our wedding day.

What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?

Don’t stress the small stuff or things that are not in your control!

Had to take a minute to get a shot of Kaylee’s wedding dress on the farmhouse porch - so cute!

The entire day honestly flew by! People always say the day goes by fast but I never realized how quickly it really does. I thought I was going to be a lot more nervous since I don’t love attention but once we had our first look I was immediately put at ease and so excited to celebrate our special day with our favorite people!

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

Our first look/private personal vows was definitely the most special moment of our wedding day! Our first look was private and it was a moment just between the Vinny and I (and Brett)

These incredible pink hydrangeas were blooming all around the property, and they perfectly matched the wedding color scheme, so I had to incorporate them as much as possible! Lucky coincidence or did they plan this?

What were your first reactions to the photos?

LOVED! After we received our engagement photos we knew we would LOVE our wedding photos! You captured every moment of our wedding day and all of the photos came out better than we could have imagined!

How did you choose your wedding venue?

We toured 3 barn style venues but as soon as we got out of the car at Locke Falls Farm we both instantly knew it was the venue for us! We loved that we would be able to rent and stay on the property for the entire weekend (Thursday-Sunday).

Instead of busting out my flat-lay fabric backdrops, I decided to go with the natural beauty of the grounds (quite literally!) at Locke Falls Farm for some detail photos.

Loved these adorable wedding party members!

Can’t get over the bridesmaids expressions as Kaylee walked down the aisle.

One of the bonus side-effects of doing a first look and getting all the photos done beforehand is that I have lots of time during cocktail hour to get candid moments of the guests, as well as all the details of the grounds/venue, table settings, etc. Of course I always find time if we don’t have a first look, but it might be a bit more rushed!

A gorgeous (and yes, delicious!), spread from the team at Batter Up.

Since Kaylee and Vinny don’t like being the center of attention, about halfway through the first dance, they switched it up to a more upbeat song and the whole wedding party got on the dance floor!

The guys at Sweep the Leg Entertainment really kept the dance floor going!
