Loon Mountain Wedding || Tim and Colleen

I was so excited to finally get a chance to photograph a wedding at Loon Mountain! And really I can’t say it enough, how awesome and fun and laidback all of my clients are! Tim and Colleen were definitely no exception. They were able to have the most beautiful day with their priorities of having a great time with their families and friends front and center, and with the most beautiful backdrop. Bonus, they were able to incorporate their love of beer and breweries by having their wedding reception at nearby Woodstock Inn and Brewery (also their vows and toasts might have also included mentions of beer!).

I’ve asked the couple questions about their story and the wedding day, and their answers are throughout in italics.

How did you meet your partner and/or get engaged?

We met online and hit it off right away!

We got engaged after we’d been dating for 4 years outside of one of our favorite brewpubs in Boston (and took the T to a favorite brewery for a nightcap to celebrate)! We had decided to go there for dinner last-minute and the engagement was a total surprise. Tim hadn’t told a soul so it was so special to keep it as our private celebration that night.

What were your goals for your wedding day? (ie, what was your vision, what did you care about most?)

What was most important to us was that the people most important to us could be there and have an awesome time!

What were your first reactions to the photos?

It felt like Christmas morning to have a couple of sneak peeks waiting for us the morning after our wedding - that was the ultimate treat!!! We received the full gallery at the tail end of our honeymoon and waited to really go through them until we got back, which made coming home / the post-wedding and honeymoon blues so much easier!

There’s so much more from this wedding at Loon Mountain!

Colleen and her family and bridesmaids were all staying at the gorgeous Woodstock Farmhouse. This new space is a perfect blank slate for the getting ready part of the day. It’s bright and airy and cozy as well. And I absolutely loved the wood floors.

Just driving into the Loon Mountain property and already the views are gorgeous!

It was so special to be able to ride the gondola up to the summit at Loon Mountain with Colleen and her mom and dad.

When I can’t be in two places at once! My second photographer Kate was able to get these photos of Colleen and her dad right before they came down the aisle, while I was at the bottom of the stairs with Tim.

The ceremony was more beautiful than I possibly could have imagined - we were both really emotional and it felt like everyone there was so invested and present.

The ceremony was truly magical - absolutely the best part of the day!

This is such a great angle for the first kiss, captured by my second photographer Kate!

How did you choose your wedding venue?

When we started wedding planning, Tim and I thought we’d love to get married at a brewery because we both love craft beer and visiting breweries or a ski mountain because of Tim’s love of snowboarding. Turns out that we were able to do both with our ceremony at Loon Mountain and our reception at the Woodstock Inn Brewery.

There are so many gorgeous backdrops for photos at the top of Loon Mountain!

One of the main reasons that we originally reached out to you was because you had photographed a wedding at the Woodstock Inn Brewery before and had the photos on your blog those photos were so gorgeous that we knew that we were hiring someone who would do a phenomenal job. We were proven right when we received the photos from our engagement shoot, so we were confident going into the wedding!

One of our favorite things about working with you was that you really focused on capturing the day rather than directing people. Your presence was very calm and laid back - everything felt really natural. Also, the photos are GORGEOUS!

One of my favorites, and a “must have” shot for Colleen - the couple with the mountains and gondolas in the background.

Just a sweet moment on the trolley riding back from Loon Mountain to the Woodstock Inn.

I love that they incorporated one of their engagement photos onto these beer bottles/favors.

Colleen has the best expressions - her smile is definitely infectious!

When I get a chance, I like to get some candid photos of the guests during dinner.

What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?

It was really helpful that we had things planned and organized in advance and hired an amazing team of professionals so we were really able to enjoy the day and be present!

Colleen’s advice: stay organized and hire your vendors early!

Tim’s advice: marry someone who is good at planning 😂

(In fairness, Tim did a lot of the planning too - we were a great team!)

The party was just what we wanted - lots of energy and dancing! Also, we weren’t surprised to have my cousins make some special song requests!

Had to incorporate a bit of a drinking game on the dance floor, ha!
