Favorite Candid Photos 2017

Every year during the slow season (winter, that is), I like to look back and share some of my favorite unposed, candid photographs from the previous year. It's always really hard to narrow it down to just enough for a blogpost! I tried not to make this toooo long, but I hope you enjoy seeing just a small slice of what each wedding day brings. It's always a surprise to me! That's what makes it so fun, I never know when I'll stumble across a great moment or angle, with the lighting just right, and a look on the face just so... But I'm ready! And I'm so ready for my 2018 wedding season to begin!

The flower girl at this backyard wedding had a very important job of helping pass around the rings for all the guests to say their well-wishes over. I loved this little moment where she was just so mesmerized with the ceremony that she stopped in the middle of the aisle.

The ending to an epic dance routine by Tony and Fara at the Lyman Estate!

Just an atmospheric, wide-angle type shot of the guests going into the house - what makes this shot for me is the dad throwing his daughter into the air.

Lots of little details in this photo, that I didn't even notice until after I had shot it and was editing. Kate and Geoff got married at her grandparents' home, and she got ready in their bedroom. On the edge you can see a family wedding photo, in the mirror, Kate's sister is watching her get ready and in the foreground is her niece, looking up at her. Just like all these eyes are on the bride on her big day!

I love capturing some of the whirlwind energy that goes on during the "getting ready" phase of the wedding. There were lots of bridesmaids helping out, and I like the reflection of one friend watching in the reflection of the TV.

A sweet first dance with the wedding party and families watching.

The lighting in these rooms at Glen Magna is always beautiful, and of course it's a beautiful backdrop for moments like this one.

Ha! Once I've gotten the standard shots during the toasts of the toast-giver and the wedding couple, I like to get some reaction shots from the crowd.

Dancing kids! What more do we need?

I just love the look on Diane's face in this one.

This is a moment that I always try to capture - the dad meeting the groom at the end of the aisle. In this instance, Shannon is looking up at her dad and her face is just so filled with joy!

Some ceremonies are pretty serious... This wasn't one of them. I feel like this image pretty much sums up the fun and light-heartedness of Meghan and Tim on their wedding day.

The dresses were hanging there making a perfect frame!

I can't resist laughing photos. If there is a group giggling somewhere, I will find them!

I think Kaitlin's best friend was razzing her new husband Matt a little, but y'know, with love.

I really like how much is going on in this photo, and centered with this little ringbearer standing there, just hanging out.

The symmetry! This wasn't planned or prodded.

Kristen's huge smile walking down the aisle (and all those cell phones on the edges), and then kissing her new husband (my favorite is how she's on tiptoe out of her shoes).

I always find some great moments during the first dance.

And mirrors are fun too!

There was a lot of emotion during this part of the ceremony, Jamie and Stephen brought in Stephen's daughter for some special vows to her.

A "slice of life" from this laid-back wedding reception.

I was just heading out the door when the flowergirls were coming in, but I didn't quite want to miss this.

The anticipation of the "grand entrance"!

There may or may not have been a Bon Jovi song involved in the making of this photo.

A found moment, unplanned details - the bridesmaid dress with the makeup and mirror all ready in the background. Starts to tell the story of what is happening, without the person in it.

When I saw the sun peeking through the trees I knew I wanted to try to get it sparkling just right during the first kiss. Yay!

This was a little different because the minister officiating the ceremony is the bride's (Sarah's) dad, it was definitely sweet and funny!

Just hanging out with her besties, all walking across the lawn in high heels, looking flawless, y'know, like you do.

These two flowergirls kept me entertained all day! They were so cute and funny. And Kristen and Tim's first dance was so sweet.

Kids and cake!

The reaction from Jocelyn's bridesmaids once she was all ready to go for the first look! (I guess this was kind of a bridesmaids first look?)
