Red Lion Inn Wedding || Chris and Courtney

It’s like raaaainnn on your wedding day. Oh yes, so much rain. But that didn’t phase Chris and Courtney (at least too much) for their fall wedding at the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset. I’m used to some summer wedding showers, where we can usually sneak out at some point during a lull and grab a few photos. This was not like that, though! A steady downpour was a constant backdrop all day and evening, but luckily for them they had a beautiful indoor spot for their ceremony and of course it was so nice and cozy inside the barn for dinner and dancing.

Thankfully Chris and Courtney were not deterred and still had an amazing day despite the rain! I was so happy to be a part of it, and the dance party was especially fun, brought to you by one of my favorites, Fine Tune Entertainment.

Ceremony and Reception: Red Lion Inn, Cohasset, MA

I’ve asked Courtney some questions about her and Chris and their wedding day - the answers are throughout in italics.

How did you meet your partner?

Chris and I met a local dive bar on a Thursday called GameTime, we would all go to play beer pong. We were friends for two and a half years before we started dating. There was an instant connection we both could not deny. We started dating July 26, 2013 and have been inseparable since.

What were your goals for your wedding day? (ie, what was your vision, what did you care about most?)

We were very open to ideas; our idea of a wedding was more of a giant dance party with good food and all our friends and family.

What were your first reactions to the photos?

I love them! It has been great being able to share them with family and friends and look back at great memories.

Lots of photos from this fun November wedding at the Red Lion Inn!

How did the day start?

It was a slow morning getting ready which I think we both needed. Being able to hang out with our close family and friends before the first look help calms the nerves and get us both excited for the big night ahead.

There’s this whole separate building that’s attached to the Inn - a really great space for everyone to get ready, and have plenty of room to spread out.

We were able to grab a few photos outside - the first look - there is a cute covered walkway that we took advantage of for the occasion.

So, I actually backed up and out of a doorway to get this shot - I kind of like the out-of-focus raindrops that you can see in the foreground!

Everyone had time to take a break after the photos and before the ceremony… The girls headed up to one of the suites to hang out and freshen up, the guys caught some fresh air on this little covered bridge in between the buildings.

I absolutely love all of Chris’s facial expressions - and Courtney’s reactions!

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

The ceremony, we had Chris’ Uncle Ronnie marry us which made it a special moment. Also our special dances, we have been working hard on them for weeks and wanted to make sure they were perfect!

What did you like best when working with me (as the photographer)?

You were very easy going and made use both feel comfortable. This was our first experience with a professional photographer and you made it enjoyable. Thank you!

Did you have any hesitations at first? Did I overcome the doubts?

Nope! The engagement shoot was helpful, we loved those photos and I follow you on social media so I knew you would do a great job capturing our day.

Gotta grab a quick kiss on the way out!

I just cannot get over how pretty everything turned out! If you want that rustic feel with a lot of elegance, the Red Lion Inn is just a beautiful spot for a wedding any time of year.

We were both a little nervous especially about the dance! We knew things would not go as planned so we tried to roll with the punches and make the best of the entire day despite the little things. Looking back it was a great night and everything we hoped for minus the weather!

Lots of amazing and funny toasts!

After a fun dance with the parents… It’s party time!

What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?

Don’t sweat the small stuff. There is going to be stuff that is completely out of your control that will happen last minute. Roll with it and don’t let it ruin your day.

Goal of having an amazing dance party with all their family and friends: ACHIEVED! This was such a blast, and we (my second shooter Mary and I) had a great time being part of it!
