ViewPoint Hotel Wedding || Megan and JP

Wowowow… Such a treat today, as I’m sharing JP and Megan’s wedding at the Viewpoint Hotel! This was my first time at this beautiful venue in York, Maine… Driving up the coast it was just a perfect late May day - a bit warm inland, but on the coast there was an amazing, refreshing breeze which was definitely welcome.

Megan and JP were so sweet together, the way they looked at each other and got the giggles. And I know all their friends and family enjoyed the gorgeous views, fun atmosphere, and lobster feast! It was an honor to be a part of this small intimate wedding. And it was so great to see Emma and John, whose wedding at Harrington Farm I photographed a few years back.

Ceremony: ViewPoint Hotel

Reception: Private home in York

I’ve asked Megan some questions about the wedding day and about their relationship… Her answers are throughout in italics.

How did you meet your partner?

We met on Tinder.... JP grew up in Massachusetts, I grew up in Alabama, and we met in Nashville, TN, after moving there for work. I had lived there for a few years before he moved down. When I was searching through Tinder, the app, at the time, would show if you had mutual Facebook friends in common. Oddly enough we somehow shared one-- a girl that JP went to undergrad with in MA, had moved to Nashville, and she and I worked together as nurses in the MICU at Vanderbilt. I was interested in his profile, and after seeing that we shared a mutual friend, I figured he may actually be a decent person to try to meet, so I swiped right. The rest is history!

What were your goals for your wedding day?

I wanted to be able to celebrate our love with our close friends and family. At the end of the day, I wanted to be able to relax, have fun, and actually be able to spend time and make memories with all of our wedding guests (versus worrying about entertaining and trying to make sure I visited with 150+ people)

What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?

If planning a big wedding seems overwhelming, trust your gut, and keep things small. Don't worry about pleasing other people-- it's your and your partner's big day!

So many fun moments and beautiful details from this Viewpoint Hotel wedding below!

This space (right across the street from the Viewpoint Hotel) was a perfect getting ready space! Lots of room, beautiful natural light with all the windows (and white walls), a whole wall of mirrors, and plenty of seating.

What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?

First look-- a few moments that we got to share, just the two of us, amongst all the other busyness of the day.

How did you choose your wedding venue?

We knew we wanted something small, and intimate. I was searching online for various ideas for micro weddings at home in Nashville, and various beaches, etc. I stumbled upon the View Point Hotel, which was right down the beach from where we've vacationed the last few summers in York and where we'd gotten engaged in August 2021, and knew that was the place for us to tie the knot!

How did you feel during the ceremony?

Excited to finally have made it to the big day after so much anticipation and planning.

Grateful for how beautiful the day turned out (there was a very thick, and heavy fog the evening and morning leading up to the ceremony).

Honored that my brother agreed to be our officiant.

You were very easy to get in touch with and responsive to all of our questions and requests. As a bride without a planner, I really appreciated your expertise and help with setting a timeline. You're also very thoughtful-- we loved the sweet care package you sent us leading up to the wedding! You weren't overbearing, but helped keep us on track, organized, and got all of the shots we hoped for, plus some!

Just a couple more shots of this beautiful view from Viewpoint Hotel!

And then on to this classic Maine seaside home which was perfect for Megan and JP to set up a little space in the backyard for a beautiful reception!

The York Flower Shop did an incredible job with these arrangements! All the details were just on point.

What were your first reactions to the photos?

Beautiful! We loved that everything looked so natural and so many great candid shots that truly captured us, our friends, and family.

What could be better than a lobster dinner for this York, Maine wedding?
