Plymouth Wedding || Ashley and Sean
I am always happy to head down to Plymouth for a beautiful wedding, and this one was certainly no exception! We were looking for a day full of rain, but somehow things worked out so that the downpour stopped long enough for the ceremony at the waterfront and then some photos. Sean and his ushers and groomsmen did an amazing job of drying off all the chairs for the guests! He knew that Ashley really wanted an outdoor ceremony and worked overtime to make it happen.
Ashley and Sean also wanted their beloved dogs to be a part of their wedding and made that happen with the pet planning services of For the Love of Paws - I always love working with them! They are incredible at getting their pet clients to cooperate down the aisle and then for some photos! Highly recommend if you want your dogs at your wedding but don’t want to deal with the logistics.
I knew how fun this wedding would be after having an awesome engagement shoot with them the year prior! It definitely did not disappoint, and their family and friends kept the dance floor going all night long.
I’ve asked the couple some questions about their story and the wedding, and Ashley’s answers are throughout in italics.
How did you meet your partner and/or get engaged?
Sean and I met as teenagers in high school back in 2009. We met through mutual friends and we officially started dating in 2010. We did things a little backwards as we wanted to save up for a house, and get our adorable dogs first- but we always knew we were going to get married eventually! Sean proposed in Boston in the Seaport district on the harbor walk. This was a place we frequented on dates all of the time, so it was really romantic!
What were your goals for your wedding day?
At the end of the day, we just wanted to marry each other. We are both pretty relaxed as a couple so we were pretty chill with our expectations! Our goals for the wedding day were to have the best time celebrating our marriage with our family and our friends! We knew from the start that we wanted to be married outside at the River View location and have the water in the background. The venue was just so beautiful and had so many pretty locations for photos, outside. Of course it started raining that day so we were worried, but everything worked out in the end! *with a lot of EXTRA hard work” For the reception, we basically just wanted a big party where the food was amazing and everyone was dancing with us having a great time celebrating. We wanted a night everyone would remember and we definitely achieved this! We had a blast!
What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?
Try to get everything done at least a month before your wedding if possible so there is no last minute things that have to be done on your wedding day. Try to relax and enjoy the moment when you can because it truly goes by so quickly! Don’t stress about the tiny details/ decor too much, because none of that stuff ended up mattering in the end. All that mattered was having a great time marrying the love of my life. And hire a great photographer (HIRE BRETT!) because at the end of the day it’s so hard to remember all you want to about your wedding day and the photos are amazing to look back on and remember just how magical our wedding day truly was.
So many fun moments from Ashley and Sean’s Plymouth wedding below!
Since the moment we met at our engagement shoot in Boston me and Sean loved you as our photographer! You were so helpful and organized in the process leading up to the wedding and so great at communicating with us.
What were your first reactions to the photos?
We LOVED them! I cried looking at them because it was just so nice to see the photos of the day we got married. So much time and effort went into our wedding day and it was so great to see the photos once we got them! So many laughs, and tears when looking at them all!
Ashley and Sean chose to do a “first touch” instead of a first look, and it was so sweet!
Just wait for Sean’s reaction… (below) Thanks to my second photographer for capturing those moments at a different angle.
You were truly amazing as our photographer! You were so easy to work with and every time I wanted a photo of something you were right there to capture it for us! There was some chaos in the day leading up to the ceremony and you were so helpful with everyone and answering all of my last minute questions! We truly appreciate it so much and the photos came out so beautiful. I’m so glad we have these photos to capture all the memories we made on our wedding night.
Also loving the reactions of the bridesmaids to Sean’s reaction! :)
What was the most anticipated or special moment of your wedding day?
The ceremony, for sure! Sean and I were dating for 13 years before getting married. Our family and friends who were celebrating with us were SO excited to watch us get married. We were just so excited to finally be getting married and to make it official! One of the moments Sean and I couldn’t wait to see was having our dogs walk down the aisle before I walked down the aisle. Our dogs can be pretty hyper/ energetic so we were totally not sure how they were going to do and they were amazing that day!! It brought us so much joy to celebrate with them as well as their our furry dog babies
At the beginning of the ceremony we were both a little bit nervous but excited. The weather was not as great as we wanted and there was a last minute change to have the ceremony outside when we almost had to have it inside the tent because of the rain. I was really bummed about this because I had been envisioning my wedding day with the outside location, but in the end I was still so excited to marry Sean! Sean and the groomsmen worked HARD tracking the weather and putting in the extra work to have the ceremony outside and it truly paid off! The ceremony was easily one of my favorite parts of the day. We were just both so happy and couldn’t stop smiling. Nothing else mattered to us once we were up there together getting married!
We knew we wanted to get married somewhat locally so we didn’t have to make our families travel too much. We decided on Plymouth, MA because there were so many options for different wedding venues. After touring several venues, we decided on the Plimoth Patuxet Museum pretty quickly! It is just such a beautiful location and it had everything we wanted in a wedding venue.
The rest of the night was just so much fun. Our first dance was so magical, we will never forget it. The reception was SO MUCH FUN. It was amazing to see our vision of our wedding come to life finally! Everyone was dancing with us and our DJ did SUCH an amazing job keeping everyone on the dance floor. We have said so many times after our wedding that it was truly one of the best nights and funnest nights of our lives!
Ashley is a huge Taylor Swift fan… It was awesome when the DJ played “Romeo and Juliet”
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
And said, "Marry me, Juliet
You'll never have to be alone
I love you and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story, baby, just say, "Yes"
