Rhode Island Brewery Wedding || Adam and Kaitrin
A really fun one to share today! Adam and Kaitrin had an awesome day for their brewery wedding at the Guild in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. I am so glad I got to be a part of this beautiful day! We started in downtown Providence at the Graduate Hotel, which has an amazing art-deco inspired lobby (which we did take advantage of for some photos :)). Everyone had such a great energy throughout the day - I think Kaitrin and Adam’s joy was just radiating out towards everyone!
I asked the couple to answer some questions about the wedding, Kaitrin’s answers are throughout in italics.
How did you meet your partner/get engaged?
We met through Bumble! I was living in the Boston area and Adam was in Rhode Island. One weekend I was visiting a friend in Rhode Island and I had the app open so it automatically updated my location radius. During that 24 hours Adam and I matched!
We got engaged in May 2021. Adam planned a date night with a little theme in mind. We had dinner at the same restaurant as our first date (past), went roller skating (present), and had our backyard decked out in twinkle lights when we got home so he could propose (future). It was a Thursday night and I was surprised!
What were your goals for your wedding day? (ie, what was your vision, what did you care about most?)
Our main goal for the day was for it to be a little laid back, stress free, and FUN! We've both been involved in plenty of weddings where tensions run high and things get stressful and we wanted to avoid that as much as possible. Overall, we just wanted to be present in the moment with loved ones, and we wanted our guests to enjoy themselves for an evening - whether that's a good meal, catching up with family and friends, or dancing like crazy!
What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?
Plan, plan, plan to your heart's content - but accept the fact that there are so many little things that won't go the way you planned (and this is coming from a very type-A personality). Try not to waste the precious, limited time you have on your day trying to fix it all - most people won't even realize that things deviated from your plan. Just let it go and enjoy the day! We had a "it is what it is" rule for the wedding day, meaning we wouldn't worry or stress over things on the day-of and we just had to roll with it. Highly recommend that!

Weather-wise we lucked out with the most beautiful, sunny, September day! Adam spent the night before at our house in Warwick. In the morning he went on a run with his dad and brother (the best man) before all the other groomsmen showed up for some food and games before getting ready.
I slept at the Graduate Hotel in Providence and my bridesmaids and family members got hair and makeup done in my suite. From the girls' side, it was a fun morning! Everything fell into place and nothing was rushed. We finished hair and makeup an hour early so we had time to just sit around chatting, eating, and relaxing. When does that ever happen?! It was so, so nice to have some unrushed time with my friends.
This was such a fun space - wish I had more time to explore it - next time I’m in Rhode Island, I guess!
Having a little fun with mirrors while Kaitrin waited with her bridesmaids before the wedding ceremony.
Despite doing a first look and all formal photos in advance, I think our most anticipated moment was walking down the aisle and the ceremony. It's not a unique answer, but we were truly excited for it. It was such a special and anticipated moment walking into the ceremony, seeing all our family and friends gathered together, and seeing each other in that setting. It's really emotional!
I think the look on Adam’s face says it all!
Aside from some blinding late afternoon sun on the bride's side standing up there, the ceremony was incredible and better than I imagined. Surprisingly, I wasn't nervous for the ceremony at all. My older brother officiated and while we knew he'd do a good job, he exceeded our expectations. He had some really heartfelt remarks and we both got emotional at different points. I think we both did our best to just take in the moment with each other - I kind of forgot everyone else was there at some points. The wedding day is long, but the ceremony is the most important part in my mind, and I think it was perfect for us.
From when we first spoke to you on the phone, to when you arrived on the wedding day - you were calm and easy going. Having that kind of quiet, but confident presence was such a comfort. You showed up, jumped right in, and we hardly knew you were around until it was time to say goodnight (and I mean that in the best way possible). You were an expert at navigating all parts of the day without direction from us, and you quietly captured the tiny moments of the day that we wouldn't have seen ourselves.
We got married at the Guild, a brewing collective, in Pawtucket, RI. We've always loved going to the Guild's beer hall, so it was a fun surprise to learn they use The Barn as an event space. They were the first venue we looked at, and it just felt right. It's got a rustic/industrial feel and you can make it as upscale or laid back as you want. We didn't want our wedding to feel too formal, so this felt perfect. Early to the ceremony and want to grab a beer? Yes please! The staff was so encouraging and put us at ease during our initial meetings. I made us go look at a bunch of other venues for comparison's sake, but ultimately we came back to them!
What were your first reactions to the photos?
Better than we imagined! The sneak peeks were a delight, the short album you shared on Facebook was lovely, and the whole collection of photos are incredible. The photos are such quality, well-composed images and perfectly tell the story of the day. There was a really nice balance of couples shots, family portraits, and then all the small, candid moments that were so important to us. Some of the photos of guests mingling before the ceremony or during cocktail hour are my favorites because we never would have seen those moments without you!
Did you have any hesitations at first? Did I overcome the doubts?
We had none! After we fell in love with your photography style and portfolio, we were initially a little worried that maybe you wouldn't shoot in Rhode Island, but when you said you service all of New England we were sold! It seemed like such an easy decision to ask you to work with us.
The first dance was a little nerve wracking at first. We love to be out on the dance floor at weddings, but our sense of rhythm isn't great so it was a little strange having everyone watch us. But once it started, the dance flew by.
The party was awesome! All the hard parts were over and we got to enjoy the evening that we spent so much time planning. The dance floor was packed for much of the night (exactly what we wanted) and when we took a breather we found pockets of people chatting at tables or outside under the patio lights. Our caterer and DJ were incredible and handled everything throughout the night, so we could just enjoy - and enjoy we did!
