Wedding at the Wentworth Inn, Jackson, NH || Matt and Kaitlin
I'm so excited to share Kaitlin and Matt's Wentworth Inn wedding! I knew it was going to be a fun day after doing their engagement shoot (featuring their adorable dog and a ride on a carousel). Kaitlin and Matt know how to make everyone feel at ease and throw a great party! And of course, we got so lucky with a perfect June day up in Jackson, New Hampshire, at the Wentworth Inn.
"Marry your best friend. I do not say that lightly. Really, truly find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with. Someone who speaks highly of you. Someone you can laugh with. The kind of laughs that make your belly ache, and your nose snort. The embarrassing, earnest, healing kind of laughs." -N'tima Preusser
Ceremony & Reception: The Wentworth Inn, Jackson, NH
And as always, I'm happy to share some of Kaitlin and Matt's notes about the day.
What were your goals for your wedding day? (ie, what was your vision, what did you care about most?)
My goal was for everything to be perfect! (obviously) But we really wanted our guests to have a fun weekend away! Matthew and I love New Hampshire and I think we wanted people to really enjoy themselves and the atmosphere. We also tried to think about every detail beforehand so that we could both relax and enjoy every minute.
How did the day start?
The girls started bright and early with hair and make up while the boys spent the morning relaxing and recovering from the rehearsal dinner...we were able to grab breakfast in the hotel downstairs (delicious!!!) and then back upstairs to continue getting ready. We also arranged golf for any fathers on Saturday morning to celebrate Father's Day. We had sandwiches for lunch in our rooms from J-Town
Deli next door while we finished getting ready, listening to music, and constantly peeking out the window at the tent.
So many fun details, beautiful portraits and lots of laughs in the photos below from this Wentworth Jackson Wedding!
It was a little tricky finding an out-of-the-way spot for their first look, but as Kaitlin made her way down the porch at the Wentworth, there may have been a few tears.
I kinda like the biker in the background!
Jackson has got to be one of the most picturesque spots in New Hampshire! There are almost *too* many spots to take amazing photos around the Wentworth. A good problem to have for a wedding photographer, especially when we have plenty of time to do the photos. Kaitlin and Matt chose to do a first look so we could do photos before the ceremony in all the spots they wanted - the covered bridge, Jackson Falls, and the Jackson Library. I am always wary of anyone trekking across river rocks in heels, but Kaitlin was up for it!
The wedding ceremony was in a secluded little spot across the street from the Wentworth Inn, complete with a gazebo, forest, and burbling brook. I love New Hampshire!
The ceremony was amazing! Everything was beautiful... Ask anyone (literally anyone) I came in contact with the weeks before the wedding and they will say I was stressing about the weather... and it was perfect weather. Seeing all the details come together as I walked up the aisle was so exciting, the flowers on the gazebo, the shepherd hook's with teacups going up the aisle, it was all perfect!
We decided to have my cousin officiate the wedding, not only was this the first wedding he ever officiated but it was pretty much the first wedding he has ever been to. He did awesome - we wouldn't have wanted it any other way, he put together a perfect ceremony. Our families are very important to us, every part of our wedding reflected that and it was really special.
I was nervous that we did not take enough "formal" pictures...Once we got the pictures back I quickly realized that the candids were so much better than any formal you could have taken! We got more than what we needed of the formal shots and I am so glad we spent more time with family and friends enjoying the day! The candids are the pictures we will look back at and remember how fun the day was!
Can we just pause a moment to really relish all these amazing details? I love the way the tribute table came out, "Generations of Love" with parents' and grandparents' wedding photos, the pretty pink and gold touches tying everything together throughout. And the tent itself at the Wentworth is just a gorgeous backdrop to start with!
I originally thought this was going to be the most awkward part of the day...which it probably was...but it was fun! We laughed, we sang, looked in each others eyes, and really just zoned everyone else out for a few minutes.
The reception was so fun! As Matt said afterwards "I didn't think I was going to have that much fun." The DJ, Matthew Spofford, was perfect for us, he knew what music to play to keep the party going. We danced most of the night and had the best time (I think the pictures reflect that perfectly). The lawn games were a big hit as well, it gave people who did not want to dance something to do.
What is one suggestion you have for other couples who are planning their weddings?
Plan and try to prepare as much as possible! And choose good vendors that go with your style (read reviews)! We tried to think of everything beforehand so that we could be in the moment and not have to worry about anything the day of... I was so relaxed on the actual day because I trusted the team and I knew we did a lot of planning and coordinating leading up to the day and everyone was on the same page.
Also, take time to eat cake! If I could do anything differently it would have been to eat more cake!
I can totally get on board with that! Congratulations and thanks for letting me be a part of your wedding at the Wentworth Inn in Jackson!
